Who's Cooking?

I come from a family where food is at the heart of what we do. Food brings us together and allows us to share, discuss (sometimes argue ;-) ) and learn.

I moved to China in 2006 in search of adventure, I found that for sure, but in doing so there was always this food accompanying me on my travels. After seven years, gone was my initial insecurities and fears of the unknown, replaced with a love for the diversity, and wonders of Chinese cuisine.

Returning to Europe in 2013 I was found wanting more from the Chinese food options on offer, I was determined to learn how to recreate and emulate the flavours and beauty I became so fond of.

I have spent the last seven years reading, researching, and cooking all of the food I was so desperately missing. Now I want to share with you what I have learnt. Beyond the misconceptions lie a world of flavour that is surprisingly easy to cook.

Xing Xing Canteen is my way of documenting the recipes and sharing them with anyone who wants to have a go too. A way for us to learn together.
